Important Messages: Welcome to Hollyfield! Book on to our open evening tours and Headteacher talks or open mornings using the links below! We can't wait to see you!
Open Evening

We are delighted to welcome prospective students and their families to visit our school site for our open evening or one of our open morning tours. The purpose of these events is to give families an opportunity to see the school site, meet some key staff, talk to some of our students and ask any questions about our school. The global pandemic meant that last year our events moved online, which gave us an opportunity to showcase our school in a slightly different way. This does mean that many students now in Year 6 will not have had an opportunity to visit the school site and we understand that this is an important part of the decision making process. Therefore, we strongly encourage only those families with children in Year 6 or Year 5 to visit us this year.

Options and dates:

There are three types of events to choose from: our Open Evening on Tuesday 5 October or our Open Mornings from 8 to18 October or alternatively, you can choose to access our virtual events online.

Open Evening:

Our school Open Evening is on Tuesday 5 October. There is the opportunity to attend one of the Headteacher’s talks, which will also include short presentations from the Deputy Head Teachers, the Head Boy and Head Girl as well as two of our new Year 7 students. This will give a real flavour of school life and our vision for the future. There is also the opportunity to have a guided tour of the school site and meet the students and staff.

Open Mornings:

Open mornings will begin with a talk from the Headteacher. This talk will include all the information given on Open Evening, but with just one or two presenters. It will be a smaller, more intimate crowd, so there will be an opportunity to ask questions pertinent to you. A tour of the school site will follow where parents and children can see the site with the students and teachers hard at work.

Virtual Events:

On Friday 1 October the following will be available on our school website:

Headteacher’s talk: This will be a recording of the same talk which will be given on the Open Evening and Open Morning events. Some of you may choose to watch this online, rather than attend in person

School Video: This shows the school, our students and staff as well as the facilities and the site.

Department Videos: These are short videos showcasing each department and the work completed there. Children and families may choose to watch all of these or simply focus on their favourite subjects!

We have chosen to add our virtual events to the website so children and parents can decide whether to attend in person, explore the school online or a combination of both. We understand that some people will prefer an online experience due to the ongoing pandemic.

Covid Safety Measures:

Currently schools are not required to adhere to any specific Covid restrictions. However, we believe that we have a social responsibility to ensure our event is as Covid-secure as possible. For that reason we request that visitors to the site observe the following:

  • Those over the age of 11 complete a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) at home before you attend Open Evening or bring along proof to show you are fully vaccinated.

  • Sanitise your hands at regular intervals whilst onsite (sanitising stations are available in each classroom)

  • Refrain from shaking hands with staff

  • Follow the one-way system as shown by your guide

  • Exit on or before your leave time so numbers on site are limited

In addition to this, we will be limiting the number of people onsite at any time. For this reason, all attendees will need to book a slot for the event they wish to attend (please note there is no need to book the virtual events, they will be available at any time from October 1). As we have limited numbers, we strongly encourage only one parent to attend with their child. All bookings can be made following the links on the table below. For those electing to just have a tour, we recommend watching the Headteacher’s talk online at your convenience. These tours can be a little longer, giving you more time to explore the school with your guide.
