Open Events Programme:

This week Public Health England (PHE) and Public Health Kingston (PHK) have moved Hollyfield School into amber Covid measures. I am sure parents and students have heard that this has been the case for a number of schools locally. This has happened because we have seen an increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in two of our year groups. It is important to remember that these measures are designed to break the chain of transmission and are precautionary measures. One of the actions we have been advised to take is to move our Open Evening online. Naturally the students and staff are disappointed about this as we were looking forward to meeting pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 and their families. However, we have explored alternative options and are delighted that we can still offer families the opportunity to learn more about the school by attending our online open evening and to visit the school site, meet key staff and see the school in action by attending one of our open morning or afternoon tours. We will also open the school for Saturday tours, including a specific SEN tour, which will be led by our SENCo. The reason we are able to offer the tours and not the open evening event is that the tours will be much smaller in size and can be offered once the two-week amber restrictions have been lifted. Full details of the amended open events can be found below

Sixth Form Open Evening:

Our open evening talk will be an online event on Thursday 11 November. This will be a live talk from the Head of Sixth form and various other staff. Spaces are limited so if you would like to attend please complete the attached Google Form and an email will be sent closer to the time with the link for the Zoom Meeting. Click here to sign up for the 7pm Sixth Form Open Evening speech.

Open Mornings / Afternoons:

We have added more dates for Open morning and afternoon tours so everyone who wants to visit the site, meet key staff and see the school in action has the opportunity to do so. Open mornings/ afternoons will begin with a talk from the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher. This talk will include all the information given on Open Evening, but with just one or two presenters. It will be a smaller, more intimate crowd, so there will be an opportunity to ask questions pertinent to you. A tour of the school site will follow where parents and children can see the site with the students and teachers hard at work. Some of the tours are after school so of course there won’t be as many lessons taking place (there will be some twilight lessons) but there will be lots of after school clubs to see. Once again, please follow the link to book your place on the tours.

Saturday 9 October:

We understand that not all families will be able to attend the open morning/afternoon tours due to the timings so we are pleased to announce that we will offer the opportunity to visit the site on Saturday 9 October. Once again visits need to be booked in advance and will consist of the Headteacher’s talk and a tour of the school site. We are also offering a Special Educational Needs (SEN) talk and tour. This is for students with SEN and their parents. On this visit, the talk will be led by the Headteacher and the SENCo with the tour led by the SENCo. This will give families ample opportunity to ask any questions they may have and to see our SEN provision.

Covid Safety Measures:

Currently schools are not required to adhere to any specific Covid restrictions. However, we believe that we have a social responsibility to ensure our event is as Covid-secure as possible. For that reason we request that visitors to the site observe the following:

  • Those over the age of 11 complete a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) at home before you attend one of our open events.

  • Sanitise your hands at regular intervals whilst onsite (sanitising stations are available in each classroom).

  • Refrain from shaking hands with staff

  • Follow the one-way system as shown by your guide
