As of 22 February 2022, the government no longer requires staff and students to complete twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests, apart from those within a SEND provision. This means that staff and students who work in our Phoenix Provision will continue to test but for the rest of us, there is no need to continue with the tests.
The wording around self-isolation has changed from rules to 'guidance'. If someone has symptoms and/or tests positive, we recommend that they isolate for five days. Following two negative LFTs after day five, they can return to school/work. We would like our staff and students to follow this guidance and we need you to continue to inform us if your child receives a positive PCR/LFT result. You should still report the results of tests online every time a test is taken, even if the test result was negative or void. LFT kits can be ordered from the government website here or are available from local pharmacies.
As you know, we have relaxed some of the restrictions at school. Staff and students are still welcome (but no longer required) to wear masks. We have been able to reintroduce face to face meetings and assemblies. We continue to make sure that classrooms and communal spaces are regularly cleaned and well ventilated. We are in close contact with Public Health Kingston, who will help us to review these measures and make any appropriate changes.
There have been some important changes to the guidance regarding positive cases. From now on, anyone who has previously tested positive for Covid-19 does not need to wait 90 days until they can continue testing at home or on site. We therefore encourage all students to participate in the onsite testing or test at home programme.
Confirmatory PCR tests following a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result are to be temporarily suspended from Tuesday 11 January. This will mean that anyone who receives a positive LFD test result will be required to self-isolate immediately and will not be required to take a confirmatory PCR test. In addition, the results of the LFD test need to be registered with NHS England and once confirmation of a positive test has been received, please can this be forwarded onto the school via the school email at office@hollyfield.kingston.sch.uk as these are required to be logged daily with the Department of Education. Once received, work will be available on Google Classroom for your child to work through if they are well enough to do so.
