COVID Isolation Changes

From Monday 17 January, people who test positive will be able to leave self-isolation after a further five full days, subject to having two negative LFT results, 24 hours apart.

The day symptoms begin or you test positive is day zero. The next day is day one of your isolation period.

You can take your first test on day five. If it is negative, you can take another test 24 hours later on day six. Assuming this is also negative - and you do not have a temperature - you can immediately leave isolation.

If the result of either of the day 5 & 6 test is positive, you should continue to self-isolate until you get negative results from two LFT tests on consecutive days or until you have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.

Anyone who is unable to take a LFT test or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.

If your child has tested positive for Covid-19, please can you continue to inform the school via the school absence line whether or not your child is returning positive or negative test results on Day 5 and Day 6. This way the school can plan for their return to school accordingly.

Changes to Positive Covid Results

There have been some important changes to the guidance regarding positive cases. From now on, anyone who has previously tested positive for Covid-19 does not need to wait 90 days until they can continue testing at home or on site. We therefore encourage all students to participate in the onsite testing or test at home programme.

Confirmatory PCR tests to be temporarily suspended for positive lateral flow device

Confirmatory PCR tests following a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result are to be temporarily suspended from Tuesday 11 January. This will mean that anyone who receives a positive LFD test result will be required to self-isolate immediately and will not be required to take a confirmatory PCR test. In addition, the results of the LFD test need to be registered with NHS England and once confirmation of a positive test has been received, please can this be forwarded onto the school via the school email at as these are required to be logged daily with the Department of Education. Once received, work will be available on Google Classroom for your child to work through if they are well enough to do so.
