Interhouse Competitions - Year 7

Posted by: Ben Ryan on 24-01-2020

On Tuesday 14th January 11 budding young chefs battled it out in the Food Tech rooms to be crowned Masterchef of 2020. The brief was that students needed to prepare a healthy low fat meal that included 2 of your 5 a day, either vegetables or fruit. After a gruelling hour and a half in the kitchen the following dishes were prepared:

Mabel Rashford- Paper baked Salmon with butter potatoes, herb dressing and steamed veg.  Oliver Cull- Pasta Agilo e Olio (Garlic and Oil sauce with capers, olivers and tomatoes)
Yannis Trucy Lindsey- Gluten Free sweet potato chocolate brownies  Will Cossins- Spicy Turkey Enchiladas
Ian Frank- Apple Strudel with raspberry dip Edward Davies- Lemon and Strawberry no sugar cheesecake
Dani Houtem- Spiced Aubergine and beef salad with pomegranate and feta salad Ejiro Currassci - Spaghetti alla puttenesca with meat balls
Farrah Feather- Pitta bread with spiced chickpeas and tzatziki  Skyla Nieri- Leek and Broccoli quiche
David Derdon - Glazed garlic chicken with rice and broccoli

After some very eager teachers trying the dishes there was consultation about which dish fitted the brief best. As all dishes were delicious it came down to whch one fitted the brief. There were Joint Winners: Ian Frank and Dani Houtem.

Thank you to Mr Miller and the food tech department for oragnising the competition.

Football and Netball

On Thursday 16th January there were 5-a-side football and 5-a-side netball competitions that took place after school. There was some strong competition and some very close results but Falcon came out on top for both Competitions.

Thank you to Mr Miller and Miss Chidlow for their organisation for both of these competitions.
