A Level Results Day 2021: A Cause for Celebration

Hollyfield Sixth Form once again proved its commitment to excellence on A Level Results Day as students celebrated their success in winning places at a range of prestigious universities. 40% of our students who applied to university will attend Russell Group universities in 2021 and 72% of our students will study at their first choice university. Notable successes include David Sadler, who will take up a place on one of the most competitive courses in the country, to read Computer Science at Imperial College London. Safiye Coskun has won a place at St Andrews University where she will study Neuroscience.

In the Medical Sciences, Daniel Davis will study Medicine at renowned University College London and Lauren Brown will study Veterinary Science at Bristol University.

Other students who have excelled in the sciences were Ben Reeve who will study Physics at Southampton University, Erin Park who will study Biology at Sheffield University and Kai Gunderson who will study Physics at Sheffield University.

Joseph Renouf has won a basketball scholarship and will study sports science at Newcastle University. Holly Powell gained a place to study Geography at the University of Edinburgh whilst Edward Hawkins will study Philosophy and Politics at Exeter University.

In the Arts, Hannah Stracey will study Fashion Photography at Leeds Arts University and Fintan Lewis, Alice Chaplain and Megan Gluck will also be attending Arts Colleges next year. Jasmine Lucas-Brown will study Music at Manchester University and Tom Naylor-Hill will study Music Performance at Leeds University.

Reflecting the diversity of our sixth form, other students such as Bogdan Linik will do a college course which will enable him to enter the police force once completed. Aimee Moorhouse will do a foundation course that will enable her to train as a paramedic and Benie Simon and Joao Pereirawill study courses that enable them to work in the field of cybersecurity.

One of our delightedl students, Lauren, said ‘Thanks to all the staff, the people and the atmosphere at Hollyfield 6th Form, I’ve been able to achieve all of my aspirations and they’ve made me into an A* student.’

Ms Jackson,  Headteacher said:

‘I am delighted for the students and for the staff who have supported them. The past year has been extremely difficult for our young people, but they have responded to the challenging circumstances positively, displaying resilience and maturity beyond their years. Their results today reflect their hard work and effort and they should be very proud of themselves. Many of our students will now go on to study subjects they are passionate about at the universities of their choice, or take up apprenticeships in their chosen fields. This year, more than ever before, the teams around the students, including their families, the sixth form staff and teachers have worked tirelessly to support them, so I would like to offer my congratulations to all of those involved. As always we wish all of our students every success in their next steps.’
