RAAC at Hollyfield
Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) at Hollyfield
Dear Parents,
I am writing to update you all on the situation with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) at Hollyfield. There has been an adjustment in the guidance and as such we have decided, as a precautionary measure, to undertake an additional survey in the building which hosts the gym, food technology room, and two other classrooms. We have taken this decision as although this building has been surveyed and shown no evidence of RAAC in the previous two recent inspections, our consultants have advised that an additional, more invasive test will confirm there is in fact, none present. In the meantime, as per the guidance and advice from professionals, we will close this building to students and staff.
Our surveys have shown with certainty that all other buildings are not affected. Therefore, the school will open as normal tomorrow. Lessons in this building will be moved to other buildings and this portion of the site closed. I envisage the impact to be minimal due to the small number of classrooms affected.
Please can I take this opportunity to apologise for any confusion. I will update parents as soon as we have further information.
