GCSE and BTEC Results 2024

Hollyfield’s GCSE and BTEC Results 2024

The Hollyfield School is proud to report the wonderful achievements of our students in their GCSEs and BTECs. In addition to the great success of the year group as a whole, there were some outstanding results for individual students. Adam Zighem achieved an incredible seven grade 9s, two 8s, one 7 and a grade 6. He said that he felt excited and relieved when he saw his results and he advised next year’s Year 11 to be consistent with their learning and revision throughout the year. Brian Hartley was awarded a remarkable seven grade 9s, three 8s and a 7. He is planning to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing at Hollyfield next year and says that he achieved the best results in the subjects he enjoyed the most.  Hei Lam Fung, Arthur Abrams and Naseem Abasov each achieved five grade 9s amongst their suite of wonderful results. Zachary Summers took home five grade 9s, six 8s and two grade 7s. He said he was delighted with his results and felt happy and relieved. Oliver A’Court achieved four grade 9s, as well as three 8s, two 7s and a grade 5, while Ian Fairhurst was awarded four grade 9s, three 8s, two 7s and two 6s, and said that he was especially happy with his results in Geography and Physics.

72.41% of our students achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 or better, including English and Maths, while 55.17% achieved five GCSEs at grade 5 or better, including English and Maths. Our BTEC students’ hard work paid off, as 50% were awarded Merit grades or higher. 57% of Music Technology and 87% of Media Studies results were Merits or Distinctions, which is really impressive. In Further Maths, Textiles, PE and Drama, over 90% of students achieved grades 4-9 (which would have been A*-C in the old system). The number of students achieving grades 7 and above at GCSE was impressive, particularly in subjects like History, PE, Philosophy, Music, Maths, Further Maths and Statistics, where over a third of students achieved them. In Maths, Philosophy, and Physics, over 20% of students achieved a grade 8 or better - and this figure was closer to 30% in Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science. In PE, Art, Drama, Music, Computer Science, Philosophy, Maths and the Separate Sciences, over 65% of students achieved a grade 5 or better.

Mr Esmond, Head of Year 11 shared the following message: I am really proud of the hard work put into the last two years from all our year 11s. There are some wonderful results for many who have opened doors to their post 16 pathways. I wish the best of luck to all students moving away from Hollyfield and look forward to seeing those who are staying in September.

Mr Buckman, Assistant Headteacher KS4 said: I’m delighted to pass on my many congratulations to all of Year 11 for the excellent results they have received this year. It is testament to the hard work and dedication they have put into their studies and the high aspirations they set for themselves. I wish all those who go onto pastures new the very best for the future and for those who are joining our Sixth Form, I look forward to welcoming you back.

Headteacher, Amy Jackson, said: Well done and congratulations to all of our students who are receiving their GCSE and BTEC results today. We’re very proud of you all. As always, thanks to our parental community for all of their support along the way.
