A Level Results & Destinations 2024
Hollyfield Sixth Form has had another tremendous A Level Results Day, with 75% of students achieving A*- C grades at A Level and 45% of students achieving A*-B. There was success in a great breadth of subjects. In A- Level Music, 67% of grades were A-A*. In A Level Maths, 78% of students achieved A*-B grades. In BTEC subjects, 46% students achieved Distinction to Distinction* and 81% achieved Distinction* to Merit. In BTEC Media, 82% students achieved Distinction* or Distinctions which is superb.
There was Oxbridge success again as Willow Walker-Todd and Noah Hall won places at Oxford University. Noah secured AAA, including an A in Music, and will now read Music at Oxford University, highlighting the success of the performing arts at Hollyfield. Willow will read History at University College, Oxford. She said that she feels absolutely incredible and that ‘Happy is an understatement’. Willow wants to encourage other Hollyfield students to apply to Oxford, as she is certain she earned her place through ‘hard work and a bit of personality.’ Five students have secured places at Oxford University in the past three years from Hollyfield Sixth Form.
There was continued successes in the Sciences, where Joe Bannister secured A*A B and will now study Veterinary Science at the University of Surrey. David You achieved A*AAA in Further Maths, Maths Chemistry and Physics and will study Natural Sciences. Jack Zhou will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton after achieving A*AA in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. He said that he feels ‘weightless’ today and is thrilled at the prospect of going to university. Lana Kaedby who studied an interesting combination of subjects got an A* in Biology, an A in Chemistry and A in Fine Art. She will now read Biotechnology at The University of Manchester. She said that she feels incredible today and is ‘so, so pleased’ that her hard work paid off. She wanted to thank her teachers: Ms Jackson, Ms Al-Obaidi, Ms Cunningham, Ms Cotton and Ms Hodson.
Sam Horner attained A*A* A* in Computer Science, Further Maths and Maths and will study Computer Science at The University of Bath. He said ‘I worked hard and it went well, so I’m happy.’ Danny Paget will study Economics at Kings College, London after securing A*AAC. James Frost did superbly in History, English and Government and Politics securing A*, A, A.
There were some outstanding BTEC results, including Yune Heo who achieved Distinction* in BTEC Enterprise and BTEC Media and a B in Photography. He will now study Business, Accounting and Finance at the University of York. Teddy Brewer has earned a place on a prestigious Degree Apprenticeship, where he will work on Project Management after achieving grades BBC in Business, Philosophy and Economics.
Mr Warren, Head of Sixth Form, said, ‘Today has been a really positive day for our students, with so many of them getting into their first choice university. We are really proud of their achievements.’
Ms Jackson, Headteacher, said: ‘On behalf of all the staff at Hollyfield, I would like to offer my congratulations to all of our students. They have done unbelievably well, secured a plethora of wonderful opportunities and are well placed to go on and enjoy their next steps. We are under no illusions about the amount of hard work needed to secure these results. I will take a moment to offer my congratulations also to the students’ parents who have supported them throughout their time with us. Well done everyone, we can’t wait to hear about your future successes.’
